The Company GEOMANTICS DANCE-THEATER, directed by Richard Haisma, is a new contemporary dance company in Rochester, NY. “Geomantics” means “divination by means of the earth”, and the choreography reveals the earth, breath, visceral motion, the pleasure of laughter, and the joy of communal ceremonies. The company is distinguished in its edgy and entertaining choreography, as well as the depth of the dancing. The audience can see dances such as “Geomantics”, a heroic male solo, “Morning Workout”, a sensual wake-up for a self-realized woman, or “Lunch Break at the Dance Factory,” which creates an intricate, athletic ceremony for Spaceship Earth. The company’s oldest and most enduring quintet, “Must Life…,” eases the pain of a single woman’s most personal loss through precise immersion in the community of flow and feeling. GEOMANTICS DANCE-THEATER believes that all contemporary dance should be an Ethnic Art Ritual, where Ethnic means those who actually like living on the third planet from the sun, Art means the only actual twin of life, and Ritual declares that we all actually live together beyond our outer skin.
